Attic Fan Vibration
I m new to the forum and i m hoping to get some help.
Attic fan vibration. A gable attic fan is attached to the attic wall by screws and if they are loose the vibration can cause an awful noise. This can cause the fan to start making constant noise and in some cases even a loud squealing sound. You need to secure the screws in place more tightly by rotating the screwdriver clockwise. Due to regular wear and tear these bearings can become worn out or lose their lubrication ability.
It s the standard home depot type fan for reducing excess heat in the attic and it works on a thermostat which i have set at 100. Remove the current worn out bearings and replace them. A newly installed attic fan vibrates. Attic fans also have small ball bearings that help lubricate the fan s movement.
The lateral deflection is minimal think back massager not a ceiling fan with one blade. The vibration is most likely the result of a wobble in the fan that could be caused by some loose screws or a fan blade out of balance. The purpose of an attic fan is to lower the temperature in the attic by blowing out hot air. Besides being annoying the vibration could lead to loose.
I have a ventilation fan installed in my attic at one gable vent. Crappy fan or improper mounting.
